Dan Wright

(DPT)

Dan attended the Lyman Briggs residential college of Life Sciences at Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology as well as an additional major in anthropology in 2014.

He completed the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Oakland University in 2021.  During his time in the DPT program, he worked alongside faculty as a Graduate Assistant in the neuromuscular interventions class and completed research investigating prehabilitation’s effect on cancer treatment outcomes.  He was given the Susan E. Saliga Neuromuscular Excellence Award at graduation.  After graduation, Dan returned to OU as a Teaching Assistant to work with DPT students and faculty in the functional anatomy course.

Dan believes it is important to individually design therapeutic interventions to improve function in ways that are meaningful to the patient.  He monitors tissue reactions to all hands-on and exercise treatments in order to facilitate healing.  Dan is passionate about empowering his patients with an understanding of their condition, what may have caused it, and best practices to continue healing and avoid recurrent injury.  He enjoys helping patients of all ages return to doing what they love.

Dan performs manual therapy to address pain and stiffness impairments, utilizing soft tissue mobilization, functional massage, oscillatory traction, and translatoric joint mobilizations depending on the target tissue.  He has additional certifications in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, myofascial cupping, and blood flow restriction training.  He has patient experience in many settings, including intensive care, progressive care, in-patient neurorehabilitation, and out-patient orthopedic rehabilitation.

When he is not in the clinic, Dan enjoys traveling, camping, and hiking up north with his dog.
