Kaleigh Swanson

(DPT, OMPT)

Kaleigh received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wayne State University in 2016 and went on to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Oakland University in 2019.

During her time in the DPT program, she was a graduate teaching assistant for the neuromuscular interventions course, focusing on gait training, stair training, and transfer training for patients with movement impairments due to a stroke, multiple sclerosis, or other neurological conditions.

Following this, she specialized through Oakland University’s two-year Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT) program, which combines residency-based clinical training with advanced graduate coursework in orthopedics and manual therapy. From early on in her training, Kaleigh learned that connecting on a personal level with patients and taking the time to listen is the foundation of high-quality care.

No two patients should have the same therapy program, as every person has unique needs, interests, and goals that should be considered when they walk into the clinic. She also believes that therapy should be an enjoyable experience. No longer are the days of the “no pain, no gain” mentality. The goal of therapy is to reduce pain, improve functional mobility, and get you back to what you love doing!

Kaleigh uses a combination of tailored hands-on treatments, therapeutic movements, patient education, functional training, and exercise to help you fully understand your condition, rehabilitate safely, and know how to continue your progress once you graduate from therapy to an independent program. Kaleigh enjoys treating a wide range of conditions, including spine pain, orthopedic and sports injuries, post-operative conditions, and balance training/fall prevention.

She is also trained in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and is certified in Vestibular Training. In her free time, Kaleigh enjoys days spent on beautiful Michigan lakes, playing fetch with her dogs, watching hockey and football, going to concerts, and trying out new restaurants.
